Susaki is located almost in the center of Kochi Prefecture, which is shaped like a fan.Before it stretches the magnificent Pacific Ocean, and reaching about 19 km into the city are the calm waters of Uranouchi Bay. To the north is Bandagamori, the mountain that is the symbol of Susaki. The Shinjogawa River, a classic example of Japan’s time-old landscapes, is lined with anglers after sweetfish during the season, and in summer it is popular with families who come for the coolness. The fish market is filled with a great variety of species, offered by fisher folk who prize freshness. You’ll be sure to meet the real, unadorned people of Susaki.
